Stripping back to bare basics, the Sonder Q kit is about as simple as it gets – and note that in this case, simplicity is most certainly key.
Remarkably similar to the Wenax Q kit that I also got the chance to review, the Sonder Q appears a little more straightforward both in design and functionality.
Size wise, the Sonder has that familiar ‘bar’ shape, and unlike the Wenax, this kit does away with buttons or screens.
Its streamlined exterior is lined with a heavy duty plastic frame, and has a surprisingly light weight. It comes in plenty of different colour options too – adding a layer of individuality.
Concealed by the rather unassuming outside lies a fairly hefty 1000mAh battery that will last most of a days worth of heavy vaping.
With the obvious lack of a screen, battery life can be found by coloured LED lights hidden behind the logo on the side of the device itself.
Batteries and Charging
Batteries are powered up incredibly quickly, thanks to a USB C port, meaning you can pretty much be on the go with your kit on a daily basis.
With no way to adjust your watts manually, the Sonder Q uses a smart wattage feature, allowing the device itself to recognise the resistance of the pod and subsequently pick an ideal wattage output for that resistance.
In that respect, new vapers will find this lack of complexity to work to their benefit – ease of use is at the heart of the Sonder Q.
Sonder Q Series Pods
Using cross-compatible Q series pods, Geekvape has made it even more straightforward to fill – simply remove the top part of the pod (I find it easier to ‘snap’ it off rather than trying to pull it apart), and fill via a one way gasket.
Thanks to the largely transparent material, it is extremely effortless when it comes to finding out how full of e-liquid your pod is.
The pod that is supplied alongside this kit is practical in the fact that it has an inbuilt coil, eliminating the need to fumble about with fiddly coil replacements.
Once your coil has burnt out or has significantly lost taste, simply dispose of the whole pod.
I have been using the 0.8ohm pod that came with the device and have decided to try out a 20mg e-liquid with it.
The draw activated inhale was velvety smooth, with a nice warmth and impressive throat hit.
I’d imagine the 0.8ohm pod should last anywhere between 7-10 days, depending on a number of factors including your choice of e-liquid or your average daily puffs, for example.
Airflow
With an adjustable airflow, you can cycle between a tight MTL and a somewhat loose RDTL, expanding to cater for your personal preference.
As I briefly touched on earlier, the Sonder Q has a robust build quality and performed excellently on my drop test – with no visible or functional damage.
Expected to be a very affordable kit, it can make a great choice for smokers looking to dip their toes into vaping without committing to an expensive setup.
In fact, the Sonder Q in its entirety has been designed with smokers in mind, it’s easy to use, performs well with high-strength nicotine e-liquids, is reliable and doesn’t cost a bomb.
As an overall opinion (especially when compared to the similar Wenax Q kit), I really preferred the basic nature that the Sonder Q presented, whilst still being highly practical and impressive.
Pros
One of the most simple and straightforward reusable kits I have tried
Powerful throat hit when used with high strength nicotine
