First try at building a Clapton, it looked good, but outter wrap was to loose

So I got a drill and everything I need to trying start building my own claptons and such. Got everything set up and got to wrapping one and to my surprise everything looked like it was going well. Then it accidentally skipped backwards. I had enough to wrap coils already so I stopped clipped the wire and found out the outter wrap was super loose. It was springy and when I tried to wrap a coil it just slid of the end of the core wire. How do I fix this and get the outter wrap tighter? I was…
